Hi guys, really nice to hear from you. We would like to ask you some questions about England.
In Uganda, it is usually sunny, but we have just come out of our rainy season where it rained almost every day! What is the weather like in England?
What kind of clothes do you wear? Here, we wear light clothing for most of the year. In rainy season, it’s cooler so we wear jackets. Girls have to wear skirts and shorts below their knees.
We love music in Uganda, especially artists like Chris Brown, Rihanna and Beyonce. We also like local artists – DJ Weasle and Radio, Bebe Cool and Chameleon. You should try to find them on YouTube. Who are your favourite artists? Traditional Ugandan music uses mainly drums and singing, but we also include piano and guitar sometimes. Our songs are about love, our culture and God. We love gospel music.
What wildlife do you have in England? In Uganda, we have lions, zebras, crocodiles, giraffes, leopards, hippos, monkeys, goats, and many different types of birds. We also farm cows and chickens.
What transport do you use in England? We have boda-bodas (motorbike taxis), matatus (small buses which we call taxis), coasters (large buses), but we also walk a lot.
We have many different fruit including pineapples, apples, passion fruit, paw-paw, oranges, mangos, pumpkin, watermelon, jack-fruit and guavas. What fruit do you eat?
What are you favourite foods? In Uganda, a normal includes posho and beans, and on special occasions we have matooke, irish potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice and a meat stew (beef, goat or chicken).
We have no winter here in Uganda, only rainy season when we plant crops. In the dry season, we harvest them. At what time of the year is your winter season? What sports do you play? Does it get very cold?
What are the common religions in England? In Uganda, we have lots of religions – Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Born Agains, Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and African traditional worship.
What are your favourite subjects to study at school?
Thank you very much. We hope to hear from you soon!
